Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year to all! Rachel sent pictures of some of the cool stuff that everyone got to do for New Years! Jared and Liz you looked great at Times Square...well Liz did anyway. Paul and Jordan....I was going to say you looked great out in San Francisco, but to be honest, you looked kind of blurry....were you on a helicopter?

So anyway, not to be outdone, I will tell you what we did for New Years: Newt (one of my planner buddies) and I left work an hour early and walked over to the PX (camp store). I bought a razor and some shaving cream, Newt didn't get anything....he was just looking. Then we walked back to the hooch. Sometime on the way back 2005 became 2006.....there weren't any fire works but we did hear a few explosions off in the distance. Obviously I win for the "coolest new Years" trip....you know you wish you could have gone to the PX too.

I don't have any pictures of the PX, but I do have these pictures of me at one of the many palaces here. This palace is unbelievable....the photos do not do it justice, but the marble and the wood in side this thing would probably bring in enough money to feed several small countries for a year. This building in the photo is only one of many that make up this palace. These buildings are built on man made islands on a lake. The lake is man made too. A man would really have to be beyond feeling to build something like this for his personal comfort and enjoyment (and there are many more just like it) while so many around him are living in poverty.

Well, I hope everyone had a great holiday, and that this new year is all you hope it will be.

Happy New Year from Mendon, Utah! We loved getting your version of the first minutes of 2006. The PX. Fun.
The palace is beautiful. It's in sharp contrast to my idea of rich Mideastern shieks dwelling in tents. (Heavy tents, but tents nontheless.) Thanks for sharing.
Love ya.

Rachel said you get excited when people comment on your blog. That last one must have left you all tingley!

I, too, find your blog inquisitive.

Way to ring in the new year! (Ask your friend if a witch turned him into a Newt. I'm sure he's never heard that one.) I woke up my oldest 2, and we set off some sweet fireworks. No pics though.

The throne is a nice fit. I dare you to bring it home, sit on it and order around Rachel. I'd do it.

Donna-
Iraq relativly nice in the winter, and there are some beautiful places...the sharp contrast between the beautiful and the completly destroyed / barren places can be hard to take...

Steve-
I would have as much sucess trying to pull the throne stunt in my house as you would in yours. I wonder if Roger wants to give it a go...or maybe Ben would be game?

By the way, how did you get your picture in your post...nice touch!

What are you talking about? I went on eBay this morning and bought one (the Throne-o-Power by Ronco). I'm gonna plop down on that thing and roar commands like a lion.

Jared did the pic for me. Everyone is dishing on me that I need a new one, but for some reason all the pics I take these days make me look fat and lurpy.

Hey,awesome way to ring the new year! I am jealous...I rang in the new year by getting up every 3 hours to feed "the angry baby"
(that's Benjamin's nickname). I don't think I know what "inquisitive" means...wait...looking it up...ok, I like your blog too. Sure makes you feel closer to home!! Love ya!

hey man, happy new year; you put the pic in your profile.
The ranger that posted is just a robot; the more links to that site the higher the page rank...you can set up the comments to require a manual code entry(check ben's blog)
if you want me to fix it up have rachel email the the username etc.
have a good 2006 man.

Do we really have robots acting as Park Rangers? Someone needs to tell Ben.

I spent the new year alone and lonely stuck in Dallas because of a cancelled flight. Could that be worse than a trip to the PX with a buddy? They both rank pretty low on the the list of "Things to do on New Year's Eve."

I know I shouldn't ask and you are not to tell but did you get an New Years kiss...?

Keep up the good work.

Dudes, you gots to get a throne. But what's a throne without a sceptre? Until I got one, Gabby acted like my throne was just some big chair.

Sara,
Ok...you win, the PX is way better than being stuck in an airport....any day of the year. We didn't kiss, but we did have a nice slow dance.

Ben-scepter....I'm afraid of what Rachel would do to me with mine.....

By the way...thanks to Jared for the anti robot stuff...it is very inquisitive....

Just to clarify--Jared helped you filter out automated comments, right? 'cause I don't think any of us are anti-robots.

Look Ben, just because I agree that robots exist doesn't mean that I like them. Frankly, I wish robots didn't exist. If that makes me anti robot, then I guess I'm with Jared and Paul. Lets get rid of all these robots!
